Filmography of Hope Davis

Hope Davis was an accomplished ballerina on the road to a career as a scientist when she landed her first role in the 1990 sci-fi thriller "Flatliners." Though Davis has since expressed a preference for stage acting, even earning a Tony nomination in 2009, she has still racked up a filmography of nearly 40 different TV and movie appearances in the last 20 years.

Hope Davis in the 1990s

Hope Davis missed one big break when she auditioned but was not selected for "Baywatch" in 1989, but the following year her luck changed when she landed a role in "Flatliners" alongside Julia Roberts and Kiefer Sutherland. The same year she made a brief appearance in "Home Alone" but then took a five-year hiatus to pursue stage acting. From 1995 to 1999, Davis really made a reputation for herself by earning increasingly larger roles in movies like "The Daytrippers", "The Impostors," "Arlington Road" and "Mumford."

Hope Davis in the 2000s

In 2000, Davis did her first television work, appearing in all 13 episodes of the only season of the ill-fated NBC drama "Deadline." The following year, she reasserted her chops by acting alongside Anthony Hopkins in the 2001 drama "Hearts in Atlantis." From 2002 to 2003, Davis saw three of her best film performances hit the silver screen via "About Schmidt," "The Secret Lives of Dentists" and "American Splendor." For the latter she earned her first Golden Globe nomination. She continued to rack up desirable TV and movie roles for the next several years and finished the decade with an Emmy nominated performance in the TV drama "In Treatment."

Hope Davis after 2010

Davis started the new decade with an independent film called "The Family Tree." She followed that by playing Hillary Clinton in the 2010 made-for-TV movie "The Special Relationship," then took another TV movie in 2011. In 2011, Davis also grabbed a spot in the much-acclaimed Kate Winslet-fronted mini-series "Mildred Pierce." She took another mom role in the big budget family film, "Real Steel," then capped the year with her third consecutive TV movie "Spring/Fall."

Hope Davis has earned an Emmy, Golden Globe and Tony nomination for her acting. She is one of very few modern actresses that has proven she can create effective performances both on stage and on screen.
